Osteria Pietra Rossa

On the road to the Gavia Pass, 1580m above sea level in the stunning Dello Stelvio National park, next to the little parish church of Sant'Apollonia, the sturdy-looking ancient inn Pietra Rossa offers a range of tasty delights, all made according to local tradition and prepared carefully by Angela's team. Open all year and easy to reach, the Pietra Rossa has kept its old-fashioned charm throughout the decades. It was born in the ashes of a little bar which burnt down in 1931, and now has the capacity to seat 100 people in five rooms and a small few private alcoves on two floors. Unforgettable lunches are the norm here, but there is more. The Pietra Rossa is the base for many walks, bike rides, snow shoe trails and a cross country ski circuit. However if you don't feel energetic, you could just admire the wonderful scenery from a sofa on the terrace, where in the summertime you can also eat al fresco.
